Celebrant Mentoring Capsules; Guiding You as You Grow Into the Celebrant You’re Becoming

Over my 13 years as a celebrant, it turns out I like a deadline. I don’t know why I found that surprising, because as a London Theatre manager, I had a deadline at 7.30pm every single night: the 1800 people were all in their seats, the actors all ready, the bar staff, box office, and ushers all ready and being brilliant. But once I realised it, I was able to create my mentoring programme – because I designed it as a capsule.  4 months.  A lot can happen in four months because we speak to focus, and therefore knowing exactly what needs to be done over those 4 months I support them to gain confidence, gain clarity on their personal brand and we explore why their ideal clients should book them,  grow their audience and get visible!  The capsule is also short enough to not be overwhelming or an investment that makes people nervous to commit, but long enough to make an impact.   

One of my clients started with me, having never done a ceremony and was still training, yet within the capsule, we converted enquiries, had a wedding BOOKED and had taken 3 funeral ceremonies!      

And much like the theatre world,  there comes a moment in every celebrant’s journey when the training is done, the certificate is framed, the ceremony enquiries are tentatively coming in …but doubt creeps in on the bad days, and curiosity creeps in on the brave days!

That was me. After 7 years I finally got my own coach, because there was a voice that said to me…. “There’s more.” There IS MORE to be had!  

More depth,  more confidence,  more alignment,  more truth in your voice and your work. So I’ve walked my walk and talked my talk – and my advice to you is don’t wait to get support!  

This is where my deep 1:1 mentoring, 4-month capsule lives! 

After more than thirteen years as an independent celebrant, and hundreds of ceremonies spanning weddings, funerals, namings and rites of passage, I’ve come to understand this truth: celebrancy isn’t just a skill,  because it’s also a practice, a vocation, and a lifelong unfolding journey into self growth. (don’t cringe!  I’m not one to sound cheesy, but I’ve got to say it like it is, and  for me, I’ve gone a step further and I’ve honed it down even more to a mission.

So sometimes, you don’t need another course!

I know! Mind blown! (I do love a course though!  I’m also always on one 🙂 as I’m slightly addicted to personal career development)

You might not be standing up in front of your loved one declaring you will ‘always be their best cheerleader’ but we all DO actually need a conversation with someone who’s walked the path ahead of you and is willing to walk beside you now, and in fact  (cringe warning again) be YOUR cheerleader and guide.

Alongside my work with couples and families, I am proud to mentor and train celebrants to help them learn how to tie this always back to the same pillars, confidence, personal brand, standing out and getting booked, making money.  Many celebrants have trained through the Academy of Modern Celebrancy where I am one of the trainers on the funeral syllabus, but also those who have found me through recommendations from the celebrant community and have trained with The Fellowship of Professional Celebrants, like I did, or through other institutions and in private practices. Over the years, more and more celebrants have found their way to me with questions that sound like:

• “I know how to write a ceremony, but how do I trust my own voice to be enough?”
• “I love this work, but I feel stuck / overwhelmed / invisible.”  (interject what you will – i’ll be able to help, because, trust me, over 13 years I’ve been there)

Mentoring is not about fixing you, you found celebrancy because it called to you – which I LOVE – so I am about the reframe!  It’s about revealing you; opening up who you are so your clients find you. 

It’s about helping you stand more fully in your authority, your compassion, your creativity, and your leadership as a person who already has a story to tell.  It’s not about being the new kid on the block at all, many of my celebrant mentees started with me having never ever taken a wedding and now they are almost fully booked for 2026 and it’s only January!

Each 1:1 celebrant mentoring capsule is a focused, confidential space where we can explore what’s really going on beneath the surface both emotionally and practically but also creatively, and professionally.

I was (still am actually) the middle girl with 2 brothers, was a licence holder by 19, played rugby at county level despite having got to elementary in ballet and point work (I know – I’m a double sided coin lol!)  and worked on the door as security in my early 20’s,  so I’m quite a tough cookie, BUT I also was the dyslexic, arty, blond one, with undiagnosed ADHD, had 5 people in my life die from cancer before I was 21, and spent a fair about of time sitting at the end of beds at Trinity Hospice in Clapham as a teenager, when I wasn’t working as the flower shop girl at a high end florist in South Kensington or singing in the church choir for wedding in battersea during the 90’s .. so I have lived the balance that celebrancy requires us to have.  I know that strong doesn’t have to mean tough, no fluff can also mean gentleness,  and independence doesn’t have to be loneliness. 

I am about bringing joy to your celebrant work, reducing trauma you might go through because of it, and supporting you to go deeper and grow in the success of your own humanity and celebrant work. 

My 4 month 1:1 celebrant mentoring and supervision is honest, grounded work and support rooted in real-life celebrancy.

My background is in theatre management and live event production, combined with deep ceremonial work across faiths, cultures, and life stages. I bring together:

• High production values and storytelling craft

• Practical guidance on business, boundaries, and sustainability

   

• And a very human understanding of what it means to hold others

Cliche warning 🙂 … BUT…it’s true!   There is a point in a celebrant’s career, or any career really, when the work naturally widens.

One realises that what you’re really holding isn’t just ceremonies,  it’s people, stories, transitions, courage, grief, joy, and hope.
